David grew up working in a family business involved in the retailing and wholesaling of fresh produce in South Australia and he continues to be involved in the fresh produce industry. David has degrees in Economics (majoring in Accounting) and Law from The University of Adelaide. He was admitted to practice on 4 September 1995.
Whilst completing his Honours thesis in Law, David commenced working for a national law firm in its corporate and commercial division and gained experience in a broad range of commercial matters including property law, company law, trusts, state taxes (land tax, pay-roll tax and stamp duty), income and capital gains tax, large business and asset sales (including working on the privitisation of certain State government assets).
In 1999, he decided to establish his own law firm dedicated to servicing small to medium businesses, family businesses, and property investors whilst becoming a director of several Company Boards and managing the development of commercial properties and agricultural projects.
David is a director of Schirripa Orchards, which operates a commercial scale Avocado farm on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. He is also the current Chairman of Adelaide Produce Markets Limited which owns and operates the sole wholesale fresh food and produce market in South Australia.
He is a Notary Public, a member of the Law Society of South Australia and an advisor member of Family Business Australia.
